Brussels Summit to benefit Agriculture and Food Security for Malawi

President BandaHer Excellency President Ms Banda is expected to deliever the key note address at the Summit

Malawi is likely to benefit from this year’s European Development Days (EDD) in Brussels as the Summit is scheduled to tackle sustainable agriculture and food security among other topics, Malawi News Agency (Mana) has established.

During the first preparatory meeting for the Summit in April this year, the European Commission was overwhelmed at the rising prices of food and oil, not forgetting the financial and economic crises the world is facing. In their report the EU Commission said in dealing with Development and Democracy it is of importance to work closer with developing countries to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth.

“Agriculture is the backbone of developing countries economies and poverty is predominant in rural areas," reads the report.
