“I believe in Malawi Diaspora for they possess powerful ideas, skills and experiences to catalyse progress in developing our beautiful country, Malawi”. That was the message from Her Excellency Dr. Naomi Aretha Ngwira, Malawi Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and Permanent Representative to the European Union delivered to Malawians living in Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco and the Netherlands during celebrations marking the 59th Anniversary of Malawi’s Independence. The Ambassador called on the Malawi Diaspora in the six countries that the Embassy is accredited to use their skills and experience to contribute to Malawi’s development.
Her Excellency, Ambassador Ngwira further encouraged the Diaspora community to mobilise themselves and work together in order to effectively contribute towards realisation of Malawi’s aspiration of becoming an industrialised upper middle- income country by 2063.
The celebrations were held at the Embassy’s official residence in Waterloo – Brussels, Belgium on Saturday 8th July 2023 under the theme “Celebrating Renewed Unity and Patriotism”. The event was also attended by Professor Timothy Nyasulu, the Vice Chancellor of Livingstonia University who was in Brussels on an official engagement.
The event provided an opportunity for Malawians living in the six countries to interact and share insights and experiences on matters of interest to the members and to Malawi.
