The Malawi diasporas in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi to the Kingdom of Belgium and Mission to European Union celebrated the 58th Anniversary of Malawi’s Independence at a function held at the Malawi official residence in Rhode St. Genese, Brussels on Saturday, 9th of July 2022.
In her remarks at the event, the Malawi Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Her Excellency Dr. Naomi Ngwira observed that apart from celebrating the Malawi’s independence, the Anniversaries was time to reflect on the role that every Malawian citizen, both in Malawi and abroad should play for the country to realise it’s aspiration of becoming an industrialised upper middle- income country by 2063. She therefore, called on the diaspora in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands to collaborate with the Malawi Government in the promotion of trade, investment and tourism in their respective countries of residence as well as in facilitating technology transfer.
The event also provided an opportunity for Malawians living in the three countries to interact and share insights and experiences on matters of interest.
