IMMIGRATION ACT

IMMIGRATION (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 2026
IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 40 of the Immigration Act, I, PETER MUKHITO, Minister of Homeland Security, make the following Regulations—
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Immigration (Amendment) Regulations, 2026.
2. The Immigration Regulations are amended, by deleting the Second Schedule and replacing therefor, a new Second Schedule, as follows—

“SECOND SCHEDULE (reg. 3)
VISA ARRANGEMENT
Visas for entry into Malawi are required by nationals of all countries, except the following—
(a) nationals of—
(i) Antigua and Barbuda;
(ii) Bahamas;
(iii) Barbados;
(iv) Belize;
(v) Benin;
(vi) Dominica;
(vii) Ecuador;
(viii) Fiji;
(ix) Gambia;
(x) Ghana;
(xi) Grenada;
(xii) Haiti;
(xiii) Hong Kong;
(xiv) Jamaica;
(xv) Kiribati;
(xvi) Malaysia;
(xvii) Phillipines;
(xviii) Singapore;
(xix) St. Lucia;
(xx) St. Vincent and the Grenadines;
(xxi) Trinidad and Tobago; and
(xxii) Vanuatu;
(b) nationals from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries, except for those countries that subject Malawians to a visa requirement;
(c) nationals from the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) countries, except for those countries that subject Malawians to a visa requirement;
(d) (e) holders of SADC Laissez-Passer whilst on official SADC business; holders of COMESA Laissez-Passer whilst on official COMESA business;
(f) holders of United Nations (UN) Laissez-Passer whilst on official UN business;
(g) holders of African Union (AU) Laissez-Passer whilst on official AU business;
(h) holders of African Development Bank (ADB) Laissez-Passer whilst on official ADB business; and
(i) holders of Diplomatic or Service passports, except for those countries that subject Malawian holders of Diplomatic or Service passport to a visa requirement.”.
