Dr. Naomi Aretha Ngwira

Dr. Naomi Aretha Ngwira, is Malawi’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union. She is an Economist. She had held several notable positions including lecturer and Head of the Economics department at the University of Malawi, Senior Research Fellow at the Agricultural Policy Research Unit and at the Centre for Social Research of the University of Malawi, Director of Debt and Aid in the Ministry of Finance and Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
She has served on various boards of institutions and commissions that include Khofi Annan’s Task Force on Gender and HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa; Malawi Special Law Commission on Marriage and Divorce; Core Team for formulating Malawi Vision 2020; Chair, Core Advisory Team for formulating Malawi Vision 2063; Mzuzu University Council; Chair, Nedbank Malawi Ltd; CDH Investment Bank; Core Evaluation on the Global Team on the Implementation of the Paris Declaration; African Economic Research Consortium (Nairobi).
